Questions before you get started
Do we need a new integration platform for this?
Not necessarily. We evaluate existing features and the expected scope of integration. A new platform must justify its additional licensing, operational, and learning effort with concrete benefits.
REST API or Events: Which Fits Better?
That depends on the process. Direct inquiries are suitable for a timely response; events can decouple systems in time. Both patterns are often combined. Data consistency and error handling also determine the design.
How do we avoid API change failures?
Contracts, compatibility tests and coordinated versioning rules make effects visible at an early stage. Transition periods and the replacement of old versions are planned with the affected consumers.
What happens if a connected system fails?
For each data flow, we define which operations can wait and which need an immediate response. Timeouts, bounded retries, buffering and manual correction procedures are implemented and tested according to the business requirements.
How do you prevent duplicate orders or bookings?
Appropriate transaction identifiers and idempotent processing ensure that repeated messages do not inadvertently trigger the same business transaction multiple times. The concrete implementation depends on the capabilities of the systems involved and is tested with repeat cases.
Can older systems be integrated without a modern API?
We examine supported exchange options such as files, data exports or existing connectors. Stability, manufacturer support and operational costs are taken into account. Not every technical access option is a suitable permanent integration path.
How is sensitive data protected in interfaces?
We limit transmitted data to the required scope and plan authentication, authorizations, and transport encryption. Logs and error messages should not reveal unnecessary confidential content. Retention and access are coordinated in the project.
What do our partners get for API usage?
The agreed scope can include machine-readable interface descriptions, examples, test accesses and notes on error handling. Responsibilities and changes are documented so that integration does not depend on informal individual knowledge.
